Who I’ve Worked With

  • “You don’t know what you don’t know until you know it” (R.Pratt) and this was very much the case for me with respect to gender diversity until Emberin arrived on the scene and educated us. I want to leave a legacy at TPI of an awareness and an openness to how a more balanced workforce can benefit the company as a whole and the path to this achievement has been established with the help of Emberin. In the first year of our “crusade” we have lifted our total female employees by 1%. This doesn’t seem much but in raw numbers amounts to about 70 more females. More granularly our management ranks have increased from 14% to 19%. This awareness and the change in attitude has been supplemented by implementation of Emberin’s my mentor program focused on preparing our female employees to break through the glass ceiling. Their collaborative focus on increasing female drivers is also contributing to the changing face of Transpacific’s workforce and providing our business with tangible, measurable results.” Kevin Campbell, CEO Transpacific
  • The My Mentor program has filled a gap in our development options. We didn't have anything that focused on the issues women face and, to be honest, we didn't understand the significance of this until we started the program. Participants enjoy several aspects of the My Mentor program but especially the opportunity to focus on themselves, their plans, and identify and overcome the beliefs or fears that are holding them back. They enjoy meeting and talking with other women, forming bonds and realising pretty much everyone feels the same way! We have lots of great stories - many participants have pushed themselves to do things they would normally shy away from (e.g. networking, public speaking, voicing their opinions in meetings). A number of women have secured promotions, and the majority have made some changes in the way they do things. Nyree Illingsworth Strategy Associate, Bank of Queensland
  • Improving gender diversity is a strategic priority for Australia Post. The my mentor program is an important part of our gender strategy which helps to build our talent pipeline and equips our female employees to take ownership of their careers. Almost 800 women at Australia Post have participated in the my mentor program supported by 65 trained mentors, both male and female. Evaluation of each program over the past 2 years, indicates over 55% of participants of my mentor have been promoted, undertaken higher duties or accepted more challenging tasks in the workplace. A recent survey conducted after Round 3 of my mentor shows: · 94% of participants would recommend the program to other women · 100% of our line managers recommend the program · 96% of our mentors would participate again “I had two participants this year. They have both shown improvement in self-confidence and work commitment. Great program!” – Australia Post Manager. Diane Utatao National Diversity & Inclusion Business Partner, Australia Post
  • In three years Telstra grew their women in management roles from 29% to 41% and women in executive positions from 6% to 31%. Both Catalyst and Telstra acknowledge that a key factor in Telstra’s award-winning success was the advice and programs of Australia’s leading gender diversity organisation, emberin. Over 3000 of Telstra’s female staff have undertaken emberin’s my mentor challenging women to step up program and 1000 of their men have done emberin’s my mentor, mastering gender leadership.
